Krogerus is advising Sampo in its strategic review of Mandatum
Krogerus is advising Sampo, the largest property and casualty insurer in the Nordics, in its strategic review of Mandatum, which was initially announced in December 2022. As a result of the strategic review and following an assessment of options, the board of directors of Sampo proposes a partial demerger of Sampo in order to separate Mandatum from the Sampo Group. Following the completion of the proposed demerger, which is expected to take place on 1 October 2023, Mandatum will be listed on the official list of Nasdaq Helsinki.
As the largest P&C insurer in the Nordics, Sampo offers services across all countries, customer segments and products. Sampo also offers P&C insurance in digital channels in the UK and in the Baltics. Sampo's P&C holdings include If, Topdanmark and Hastings.
Mandatum is a major Finnish financial services provider offering a wide array of services covering asset and wealth management, savings and investment, compensation and rewards, complimentary pension plans and personal risk insurance to corporates, retail customers as well as institutional and wealth management customers. Mandatum has a strong investment track record across a number of asset classes, including private debt and other alternative assets. At year-end 2022, Mandatum had EUR 16 billion of assets under management, excluding assets managed for other Sampo Group companies.
