Tuukka Airaksinen Joins Krogerus as Head of the IPR Practice Group
Tuukka Airaksinen joins Krogerus law firm as the head of Intellectual Property Rights practice group based in Helsinki.
He previously worked as a partner and European Trademark attorney with Benjon Ltd, a company offering specialised services in protecting and de-fending intellectual property rights.
Past responsibilities include managing portfolios of significant international and Finnish companies that have business operations in areas that include the technology and consumer product industries. He has also worked as an examiner at the EU’s Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (Trade Marks and Designs). “For all companies, worth is created not only from the tangible equipment that serves as the core of a business, but also in a product’s shape, colour and the way it is used. Intellectual property asks companies to fully protect all the elements that go into their unique processes,” comments Airaksinen. He adds that companies are not always aware of the anti-counterfeiting measures at their disposal. “When personnel report an unexplained decrease in sales and an infringement is found, companies are put on the defensive. Rather than react after the fact, companies are better protected when they work proactively to protect the company against thieves,” he adds.
Airaksinen will use his expertise to advice clients on designing and managing global trademark and domain portfolios and filing strategies. He will also provide representation on prosecuting trademark applications, oppositions and cancellations of registrations, enforcing clients’ trademarks, representing clients in courts, arbitration proceedings and domain name disputes.
